Stell Dir vor, Du wärst Harley-Davidson Vertragshändler. Und dann stell Dir vor, Du wärst seit über 25 Jahren als Hersteller qualitativ hochwertiger Zubehörteile im Geschäft.

Kurzum, stell Dir mal vor Du wärst Walter „Zabel“ Maygatt, Chef der Harley Davidson Vertragshändler House of Flames und Inhaber von HPU.

Eventuell würdest Du Dich dann auch dazu entschließen, endlich mal wieder eine richtig geile Kiste aufzubauen. Aber weil Du im Laufe der Jahre unzählige, vogelwilde Custombikes gefahren hast, denkst Du Dir, es wäre jetzt an der Zeit für was Bequemeres.
Deine Gedanken kreisen immer wieder um das Thema „Bagger“. Und die Tatsache, dass diese momentan total im Trend liegen erleichtern Dir dann die Entscheidung, so ein Ding zu bauen.

Begonnen haben die Münchner mit einer 2011er FLHX Street Glide, bei der jedoch lediglich Rahmen, Schwinge und Getriebe unangetastet blieben.

Zuerst wurden natürlich HPU-Räder im Gotham Design samt passenden Bremsscheiben und Metzeler Reifen verbaut. Doch das war erst der Anfang. Sämtliche Lackteile - wie der Tank - wurden aufwendig überarbeitet, oder gar gänzlich durch neue ersetzt, was bei den Koffern, dem Heckteil sowie dem Front Fender praktiziert wurde.

LED-Blinker und Rücklichter wurden formschön in den Verkleidungen versenkt, ein Arnott- Luftfahrwerk montiert, sämtliche Motor- und Getriebedeckel, Gabel, Lenker etc. geschwärzt oder durch RSD-Covers ersetzt.

Und dem geneigten Betrachter wird sicher der abgefahrene Primärdeckel aufgefallen sein. Hier wurden 60 kg Alu 13 Stunden auf der CNC-Fräse bearbeitet, bis ein auf 4 kg reduziertes Kunstwerk zum Vorschein kam. Und das Beste daran ist: der Deckel wird ab sofort bei HPU vertrieben.

Nachdem alle Blecharbeiten erledigt waren wurde Marcus Pfeil verpflichtet, dem Ganzen ein entsprechendes Lackkleid zu verpassen. Getreu dem Motto „ Braun ist das neue Weis“ hat der wieder mal ein echtes Meisterwerk abgeliefert, das durch den Custom-Leather Sitz perfekt abgerundet wird.

Die Zeit ohne Lackteile verstrich in München jedoch nicht ungenutzt. Dem nackten Fahrwerk wurde eine dezente Leistungskur spendiert. Nicht weniger als 120 C.I. stehen dem Fahrer zur Verfügung. Beatmet durch einen Screamin-Eagle Heavy Breather mit 58mm Throttle-Body, gemappt mittles SE-Super Tuner bläst die El Patrón durch einen J&H-Auspuff samt eigens gefertigten Endkappen zum Angriff.

Dass dieses Motorrad keine Trailer-Queen ist, sondern die perfekte Symbiose aus Fahrbarkeit und Showbike hat Zabel dann auch gleich nach Fertigstellung auf der IRON MAN TOUR nach Arraba bewiesen, auf der er die übrigen Teilnehmer nur im Rückspiegel sehen konnte.
