Les Paul

In der Regel ist jeder Betrieb, der ein schönes Motorrad gebaut hat daran interessiert, sich all die guten Ideen und Umsetzungen auf die eigene Fahne zu schreiben.

Beim hier gezeigten Les Paul Bike müssen wir jedoch vor dem Auftraggeber den Hut ziehen, der mit seinem exquisiten Geschmack und jeder Menge guter Ideen massiven Einfluss auf das endgültige Resultat genommen hat.

Doch drehen wir zunächst die Uhr zurück auf August 2009.

Alex war auf Heimatbesuch in München; ein eher seltenes Unterfangen, denn der Geschäftsmann verbringt den größten Teil des Jahres in Hong Kong.

Seine Visite nutzte Alex, um dem Münchner House of Flames einen Besuch abzustatten und seine Ideen für ein neues Projekt zu besprechen.

Alle Beteiligten waren sofort begeistert von den Ideen, die in dieses Bike einfliessen sollten.

Die Grundidee einen Bobber auf Basis einer modernen Cross Bones zu bauen ist natürlich nicht neu, jedoch fehlt bei den meisten Aufbauten dieser Art die letzte Konsequenz, kompromisslos dem angestrebten Stil treu zu bleiben.

Weisswandreifen waren ein Muss, aufgezogen auf schwarz beschichteten Felgen.

Es kam für Alex auch nicht in Frage, den Motor optisch unverändert zu lassen. Hier wurden die markanten Knucklehead-Cover für Rockerboxen und Nosecone montiert; poliert versteht sich, denn so war es auch 1936 beim ersten echten Knucklehead.

Für die Beleuchtung kamen natürlich nicht irgendwas infrage; es mussten schon die Repliken der Originalteile aus der Knuckle-Ära sein. Um Problemen von TÜV-Seite aus dem Wege zu gehen, wurden unauffällige Mini-Blinker montiert, denn auf die Sicherheit sollte trotz allem nicht verzichtet werden.

Der Lenker ist eine Sonderanfertigung aus dem Hause V-Team, der exakt auf die von Alex gewünschte Sitzposition gefertigt wurde. In diesem Zuge wurden auch die Trittbretter zurückverlegt.

Das Heckteil, die Krümmeranlage mit Kess-Tech-Dämpfer, diverse Halter für Lampe und Blinker, die Batterieabdeckung und vieles mehr fertigten die Münchner an den eigenen Werkbänken.

Den Sitz lieferte wie so oft der schwäbische Lederpapst Armin Dobstetter von Customleather.

Er fertigte einen Mini-Police in braun-antique, der perfekt mit der Lackierung harmoniert.

Diese wurde von Marcus Pfeil aufgetragen und spielt nicht nur optisch eine tragende Rolle:

sie ist indirekt Namensgeber für das ganze Projekt, handelt es sich doch um einen „Sunburst“ genannten Farbverlauf, der – richtig – von den berühmten Gibson „Les Paul“ Gitarren bekannt ist.

Nach nicht weniger als 11Monaten Bauzeit konnte ein begeisterter Besitzer seine Kreation entgegennehmen und hat eine alte Weisheit überdeutlich bewiesen: Gut Ding braucht Weile!
